Listed below are some frequently asked questions (FAQ's). We will continue to update these.
1. Do your hats come with lining? Hats have the option of coming with or without lining, as some customers prefer hats without lining. Lining is an additional $10 per item. The Spring Summer hats do not come with lining because it interferes with ventilation and prevents the hat from breathing and cooling off the head.
2. How do I measure my head? To measure your head take a soft tape measure and measure the circumference of your head. First stand in front of a mirror and , start by putting the beginning of the tape measure in between your eye brows and go all the way around until the tape measure meets the other size. You should get a measurement in inches or centimeters. Make sure that the tape measure is at least 1/8" above the ear. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you will be wearing your hat on top of braids, a wig, a headscarf or other styles, please take the measurement when your hair is in the style that you will typically wear.
3. What kind of material do you use to make your hats? For Spring Summer we use Panama straw, Milan straw, Hemp straw, Horsehair, Paper/Cotton/Nylon, Poly, Vented Poly, and Satin. The materials for Fall Winter are Velour felt, Beaver, Chenille, Satin, Paper/Cotton/Nylon
4. How long does it take to receive my order? Custom hats orders will take 7 to 10 business days. Please contact us if you require a shorter turnaround time. Once your custom design hat is ready, overnight and expedited shipping is available for an additional processing fee.
5. Can I wear my hat in the rain? All the hats can be worn in the rain. However, we recommend taking extra care with white hats made from Milan and Panama straws. We discourage wearing these styles in the rain, as they are natural fibers that retain the moisture and may lose their shape.
6. Can I order a custom made hat that is not on your website? Yes, please use our CONTACT FORM to submit your request. We will respond to your request within 24 hours to discuss the style of hat that you wish to have us custom design.
7. Can I order from hats from jfaulkhats Vault? Yes, please "Save" or "tag" a photo of the hat from our vault for your reference and use our CONTACT FORM to submit your request. We will respond to your request within 24 hours to confirm the style, color choice and to provide pricing information.
8. If I like a style, can I order in a different color? Yes, many of our customers select hat colors to match or coordinate with their wardrobes or outfits for special occasions. Please use our CONTACT FORM to submit your request. We will respond to your request within 24 hours.
9. If I like certain color combos in another hat, can I get those colors made in another style? After you select your hat style please use our CONTACT FORM to submit your request. We will respond to your request within 24 hours.
10. If I want to make a slight change to the brim or crown or the design how can I do that? Yes, because each hat is custom made-to-order, we can increase or decrease the brim width or crown height to your preference. After you select your hat style please use our CONTACT FORM to submit your request. We will respond to your request within 24 hours.
11. Do you block and reshape hats? Yes we re-block and reshape certain hats. Please use CONTACT FORM to submit your request and we will follow-up to get information about your specific requirements and provide information on the pricing.
